Laid out in front of us is a hotpot brimming with different kinds of “ingredients”.Representing a diverse range of cultures, all these ingredients present us a multicultural and pluralistic society. Mixing together, these cultural ingredients appear tremendously appetizing and nutritious.
Undoubtedly, what has been mirrored from
the drawing is a fact that cultural integration should be given top priority. Rationally, we not only need to inherit and carry forward the quintessence of traditional Chinese culture, but also to embrace and incorporate what is best in western culture with an open mind. However, some youngsters, intentionally or unintentionally, prioritize western culture and modern culture over traditional Chinese culture, exerting a detrimental impact on our national psychology and identity.
To wrap it all up, the path to a culturally
enriched future should be approached by a shift
in mindset: translating our focus on “modernity
only” into that on “cultural confidence" . Such a
move may hold a particular promise of navigating
us into a sound life enriched by cultural prosperity, where diverse influences coexist and thrive together.
