Some people believe that people should continue working in their old age if they can. To what extent do you agree or disagree？

A substantial contingent of individuals argue that older generation who are physically and mentally able should stay in the workforce. From my point of view, I partly agree with this statement.

On the one hand, capable elderly individuals help with filling job vacancies which young generation not willing to do. In environment that working as employee at catering industry or being an agriculturist, it requires manual labor and physical works. Most young generation not willing to take care of tedious and repetitive jobs, but prefer positions requiring professional knowledge and specialize skills, which make labor-based careers left vacant.
Older people with excellent health conditions can take leftover positions, furthermore, companies fill with these gap and increase their profit, make a huge progress eventually.

On the other hand, although senior can work with simple tasks, their physical conditions are not able support them to handle high-intensity workload. High-pressure working schedule are harmful for their physical health. Jobs such as being a nurse or a construction worker, the prolonged working hours or heavy lifting and moving tasks will challenge them although they have ability to work. Furthermore, the idea of extending working lives bring adverse consequences to their health such as getting serious diseases. In addition, senior are lagged behind to adapt in the realm of advanced technology. In situations that using electronic devices in high-tech fields, is an obstacle for people who beyond retirement age. It is undeniable that they are able to carry out simple job such as collating documents or communicating with clients. However, they lack understanding of cutting-edge technology, making them not being successful in workplaces.

In conclusion, although extending senior working lives can fill job vacancies, importantly, the ability of handling stressful occupation and having a series of health concerns should be taken into account and more significance.
