1. Many people go through life doing work that they hate or have no talent for. Why does this happen? What are the consequences of this situation? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words.
A considerable number of individuals argue that many working professionals seek a job that has no passion or zero talent for. This essay will demonstrate the reasons and the adverse consequences of this phenomenon.
On the one hand, individuals tend to look for an unsuitable career because they are carrying a heavy family burden. Since the young generation is responsible for looking after families, prioritizing jobs such as artificial intelligence field and other high-tech-based industries offers them higher salaries compared to other industries, thereby reducing youth’s economic pressure and raising their living standard, which is one of the ultimate goals for working. On the other hand, a lack of opportunities limits their career options. It is challenging for individuals who are poorly educated and have limited working experiences to step into their favored sectors. Positions such as delivery drivers or guards are not expecting more intellectual or previous experiences. Although numerous workers have a negative thought on tedious or repetitive jobs, these are still the only choices for them.
Working in a position that employees do not enjoy brings a series of negative consequences to individuals. Firstly, it will lead to poor mental health and horrible overall well-being. If they lack both passion and the necessary knowledge to handle tasks, it will generate a feeling of depression, anxiety, and self-doubt because they fail to find the meaning of working in a company. Secondly, the misuse of workers’ abilities wastes human resources due to the fact that they have talent in other areas. Some people have talent of being a teacher but end up choosing to work on cutting-edge software and electronic devices due to several reasons. By showing their abilities at a right place, they can boost their self-confidence, helping them to find a sense of achievement and contribute to the industry better.
In conclusion, despite the need to support families, limited educational opportunities or resources force people to take a job without enthusiasm. This will not only exacerbate working professionals’ general physical health but also lead to inappropriate allocation of talent.
