It is clear that the total population visiting the island showed an upward trend throughout a 7-year period. This figure included numbers of visitors staying on island or cruise ships, and trends for these two figures also saw an overall positive change.
To begin with, 2010 witnessed the total population visiting the island at 1 million, in which 0.75 million living on the island and 0.25 million staying on cruise ships. The number of the total visitors to the island increased gradually during 2010-2012 from 1 million to 1.5 million, then surged to 2.75 million in 2015 and remained stable in 2016, in the end rocketed to 3.5 million in 2017.
Moving to other two lines for a more detailed breakdown. Starting from 2011, the number of visitors who stayed on the island increased dramatically from 0.75 million in 2011 to a peak at 1.5 million in 2013 and remained the same figure in the following years, despite the figure in 2016 dropped slightly to 1.3 million. However, although the number of travelers staying on cruise ships climbed to 0.5 million in 2011, it decreased to 0.25 million in 2012 and grew steadily from 2012 to 2017, and reached its peak at 2 million in 2017.
