When it comes to whether young people nowadays are better able to make decisions about their own lives than in the past, the answer is always debatable. Considering the latest information is easy to get  from the Internet, and technology dominates individuals' thoughts, I fully agree with this statement.
The thinking pattern of people has changed drastically since technology has revolutionized our daily life. Young people in the past have no access to the Internet, so it is common to say that people are more influenced by people around them, such as family members. Right now, people who encounter significant decisions are more willing to ask AI robots for answers than their parents since answers from algorithm are comprehensive and profound. It is widely acknowledged that sometimes AI robots understand us  more than anyone else around us. As a result, adding with the development of big data techniques, computer systems recommend suitable suggestions based on people's historical browsing records, enabling the optimized solutions to be made. 
For instance, instead of asking my dad which apartment is worth buying, I highly recognize the plans, which organized by AI, are more reliable. This is because AI empowered me with all related information, such as genuine value of house and lands as well as public facilities around the building that critically determines the house's future value. With rational reasoning models, under no circumstances should I request any one for advices. Time is saved, and decisions made with high quality.
Anther conspicuous reason that considerably affects the influence of parents is both content and device transformation. Many elder parents nowadays cannot catch up with the latest content from the internet, leading to the enlarged generation gaps between parents and children. Different concepts among diverse groups are enhanced and protected. Groups based on age identification also formed, leading to several stereotypes among generations. This can be harmful to interpersonal interaction. Family relations are victims because parents have no topics to communicate with children. The lack of resonance in real life further generate indifference mentally, minimizing the degree of influence on one another.
Additionally, state-of-the-art technology confuses parents, making it harder to interact with people. For instance, imagine an old man who is not able to use a smart phone is accordingly losing the chance to have face-to-face online talks with his dear daughter immediately. Thus, the old father cannot exert a pivotal impact on her marriage issues. Parent-children relationships become distant, creating more spaces for the young to determine significant issues on their own. To be more independent as well.
Some people may argue that technology cannot manipulate people's decisions all the time since it should be human that have the authentic feeling and dominate the world. With this in mind, parents' decisions still outweigh technology right now. This is the viewpoint that partially reasonable. Young citizens are eager to grab the autonomy and may not want to be manipulated by technology. However, young citizens also deeply understand that they have to integrate all kinds of opinions, from parents' caring words to AI's constructive recommendations due to the maximization of their own interests. While parents provide mental support, robots serve as people's understanding instruments. Consequently, the overall degree of mastery is still on the hands of the young.
