The line graph depicts the price change of bananas in Japan, France, Germany and USA during 1994 and 2004.
It is clear that the price of bananas in Japan and USA saw an increase in 2004, compared with that in 1994, whereas the figure for France and Germany saw a decrease in 2004 comparing with that in 1994. Notably, the price of bananas in Japan has remained the top one ranking in most of time during the period.
To begin with, 1994 saw the price of bananas in Japan recorded the highest at US$1.9 per kilogram, followed by figure for France and Germany at US$1.7 and US$1.4 per kilogram, and the figure for USA reached lowest at US$0.8 per kilogram. Although the figure for Japan surged at US$2.9 per kilogram in 1995, it dropped to US$2.0 per kilogram in 1996 and kept stable within the range of US$1.9-2.2 per kilogram during 1996-2000. In 2001, the price of bananas in Japan saw a decrease and reached at US$1.6 per kilogram, and for the first time, the figure for France surpassed it at US$1.6 per kilogram. However, the figure for Japan kept increasing for the next 3 years and arrived at US$2.5 per kilogram in 2004.
Moving to another upward line, we can see the price of bananas in USA showed increase from US$0.8 per kilogram in 1994 to US$1.2 per kilogram in 1995, and the figure kept within the range between US$1.1 to US$1.2 over the next 9-year period. Meanwhile, 1994-1999 witnessed the prices of bananas in France and Germany keeping stable at the range of US$1.7-1.8 per kilogram and of US$1.3-1.5 per kilogram, respectively. In the last 5 years, figures for France dropped twice and for one time, reached the same figure for Germany at US$1.3 per kilogram in 2000, and for another time, decreased to US$1.0 per kilogram in 2003. However, the period of 2000-2004 saw the stable tendency of figure for Germany, remaining within the range of US$1.2-1.4 per kilogram.
