Asglobaltradeincreases,manygoods,eventhoseweuseinadailybasis,areproducedinothercountriesandhavetobetransportedinlongdistances.Doyouthinkthebenefitsofthistrendoutweighthedrawbacks?Itisaprevailingphenomenonthatasignificantnumberofproductswhichincludedailynecessitiesaremadebyforeigncountriesandshippedoverlongdistances.Personally,Icontendthattherearemoreadvantagesthandisadvantages.Ontheonehand,Iacceptthatoutsourcingtheproductionofsomegoodsandtransportingthemoveralongdistancemayposethreatstotheenvironment.TheprimaryreasonforthisisthatvesselsreleaseahugeamountofCarbondioxideandotherchemicalsubstancessuchasnitrogenoxidesorsulfuroxidesintotheoceans;therefore,thequalityofseawaterwillbecontaminatedbypollutants.DatafromNASAshowsthatthethecarbonemissionsbyinternationalshippingreachapproximately3%inaglobalrange,makingoverseashippingamajorcontributortomarinepollution.Ontheotherhand,however,Iwouldarguethatthisdevelopmentwouldbringmorebenefits.Firstly,domesticcitizenshaveaccesstolower-priceditems,whichshouldbeconsideredmorepressingthanthecostoflong-transportation.ThereasonforthisisthatproductsarebeingmadeincountriessuchasVietnamandChinaalwayswithlowerlabourcosts,whichcanreduceproductionexpenses.Forexample,electronicsappliancesareproducedinAsia,enablingpeopleinWesterncountriestopurchasethematafractionofthecostcomparedtolocallyproducedalternatives.Moreover,long-distancestradingcanaccelerateothercountry'seconomicgrowth.Inthepast20years,Westerncountrieshavebuiltthousandsofindustriesinothernations,suchasChinaandotherareasinAfrica,whichhasalreadyprovidednumerousstablejobopportunitiestolocalcitizens.Eventually,localresidentsarepossibletofindajobandresultinraisingindividualslivingstandardsbyearningsalaries.Inconclusion,althoughoverseatradinghasimpactonenvironmentalsystembecauseofovercarbonemission,lowerspendingonproductsandenhancingglobaleconomybyofferingjobpositionsshouldbetakenintoaccount.
